Accounts are real. Trip bookings, payments, conversations, reviews, and vouchers are demos. Account details and submitted safety reports use Firebase; your demo activity stays in this browser. Resetting the demo does not delete your account or reports.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how Waymigo ("Waymigo," "we," "us," or "our") handles personal information when you use this website and its current travel discovery demo. It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions.
It describes the service available today. Real reservations, payments, traveler-to-traveler messaging, and a public traveler directory are not currently provided.
2. Information we handle
- Account information. If you create an account with email and password, Firebase Authentication processes your email address, password, display name, and account identifier. If you use Google sign-in, Firebase receives information associated with that sign-in, such as your name, email address, profile photo URL, and account identifier. The app does not store your password in its demo data.
- Synced profile. Your name, selected languages, interests, privacy preferences, whether you asked for launch updates, adult confirmation, birth year, and profile creation/update timestamps may be stored in Cloud Firestore under your account. Your full date of birth is used in the browser to check that you are 18 or older; the app saves only your birth year and adult confirmation.
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, or tick “Keep me posted about the launch” when creating an account, your email address, whether you’re interested as a traveler or a host, and the time you joined are stored in Cloud Firestore. We use them only to send Waymigo launch updates. You can ask us to remove your entry at any time using the contact details below.
- Partner enquiries. If a business contacts us through the For partners page, we store the business name, contact email, type of place, and any neighborhood, website, or message you add, plus when you sent it, in Cloud Firestore. We use these only to discuss partnering with Waymigo, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
- Browser-only demo activity. Your destination, travel dates, party size, budget, pace, saved collections, sample reservations, personal plans, messages, reviews, helpful votes, vouchers, blocked sample profiles, legacy demo reports, and notification state are saved in this browser. These are not uploaded to Firestore by the current app.
- Safety reports. When you submit a report while signed in, we store your account identifier and email, the reported profile or service, selected reason, details you choose to provide, whether you requested local blocking, review status, and a server timestamp in Cloud Firestore. A private submission receipt supports retries and limits repeated submissions. Report contents are available only to authorized project administrators through the team review queue, not to other travelers or web clients. We use this information to assess concerns, address misuse, and contact you if needed. We do not automatically send report contents by email. Reports made using the old demo flow remain on your device and are not automatically uploaded.
- Technical information. Hosting and service providers receive information needed to deliver and secure the website, such as IP addresses, browser/device information, requested URLs, and request times. Firebase also processes technical information for authentication and abuse prevention.
Please do not enter payment card details, passport details, sensitive personal information, or private information about other people into demo forms or chats. There is no payment collection in this version.
3. How we use it
We use account and profile information to sign you in, recover access, sync supported preferences across devices, and record your adult confirmation. Browser-stored activity lets you explore sample travel plans, see suggestions based on dates and interests, and keep your demo progress after a refresh.
Technical information supports delivery, troubleshooting, security, and abuse prevention. Demo messages are not sent to real travelers. The reporting form sends real reports to a private team review queue after you sign in; old browser-only demo reports are not submitted. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on providing the service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing it, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required. Any legitimate interests are subject to your applicable rights.
4. Cookies & browser storage
The app uses local storage under waymigo-demo-v1 to remember demo progress. Firebase Authentication also uses browser storage to maintain your sign-in session. Signing out does not erase the separate demo progress.
We do not load Firebase Analytics or advertising trackers in the current app, and we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no targeted advertising or optional analytics enabled for browser privacy signals to disable.
You can clear or block site storage in your browser. Clearing it may sign you out and remove local progress. External providers may use their own storage when you sign in with them or visit their websites.
6. Retention & security
Local demo data remains in this browser until you reset it, clear site storage, or your browser removes it. Account and synced profile data remain in Firebase until deleted by the service operator, subject to any legal retention obligations and provider backup schedules. Safety reports and their receipts are retained while needed to assess the concern, address misuse, handle follow-up or appeals, or meet legal obligations. Provider technical logs follow their own retention practices.
We use Firebase authentication and account-based profile access controls. No online service or browser storage can be guaranteed completely secure. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to view its local demo data, so sign out and clear site storage on shared devices.
7. Your choices & rights
- Update preferences. Open your settings to change your name, languages, interests, and demo privacy preferences. Supported fields also sync to your account when signed in.
- Reset local progress. In the app footer, choose “Privacy settings,” then “Reset my demo progress,” and confirm. This replaces local demo progress with the default sample data. It does not delete your Firebase account, synced profile, submitted reports, or provider logs.
- Manage sign-in. Use the profile menu to sign out. Use “Forgot your password?” on the sign-in screen to request a password reset for an email account.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority. These rights may be subject to identity verification and lawful exceptions. The current app does not include a self-service account deletion or data export control. To request account or profile deletion, a copy of your information, or help with another privacy right, email info@waymigo.app. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8. Adults only
Waymigo is intended for travelers aged 18 or older. Do not create an account or provide personal information if you are under 18. We do not knowingly seek to collect children’s personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact info@waymigo.app so we can investigate and arrange appropriate deletion.
9. Policy updates
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be explained on the service, and we will provide any additional notice or obtain consent required by law before applying changes that require it.
